SuboxDoc Fails Marketing 101!

Published by J Junig MD PhD on March 11, 2009

I’ve always known that there are some things that I am good at, and some things that I am not-so-good at.  That is why I asked for help with the logos;  I have never been very good when it comes to ‘style’, and this exercise was no exception!
I am not going to announce a winner yet, but I have tallied the votes so far and I admit to a bit of surprise at the results.  One logo has no votes, and one logo is far out in front;  and there are a couple tied for second place.  As for my top three choices– they are all among the bottom vote-getters.
The response has been positive with the exception of one person who wrote back saying that all of this was ‘flippant’ and that I should be spending my time doing something that REALLY helps addicts, like lobbying the FDA…  he didn’t happen to mention what his ‘service work’ consisted of.  I think that the fact that I am doing this now, on my vacation in France, says enough about my dedication to the cause!  (First time in Europe, by the way… friendlier than I expected.  Although to be honest I wasn’t expecting them to be too friendly!).
I don’t know where this ‘logo’ stuff will lead, but as always I want to thank those of you who participated, and invite those of you who haven’t to go ahead and vote.  Yes, addiction is serious business… but simply having a medication that offers some choices should be reason enough for a bit of levity.  I was talking to another ‘old-time addict’ recently about the days ‘before Suboxone’ when relapse meant months to years of suffering, and maybe even death– compared to now, when relapse– while nothing to welcome– can at least be arrested before too much damage has been done.  And that is a good thing.
If you haven’t voted yet, take a shot and send send in your picks.
Thanks all,
SD

Just ignore the comment from that e-mail you got referring to you wasting your time with this and should be doing something like lobbying the FDA without referring to what you should be lobbying for. I appreciate your time on the videos and blog and I’m sure many more do. Like you said. You doing this on your vacation in France shows how much you are dedicated to the cause.
Respectfully,
Angelo
